I Won!

So at my company (Cox Communications), we have this charity thing called Cox Cares, which raises money for the Boys & Girls club and holds fairs for them, and donates a ton of money towards children and their families in need. Our company was 'retiring' some 20 company Dell laptops. They decided to hold a raffle and whosever names they picked out, got to get a laptop, but had to pay $100 towards Cox Cares.

Well I replied to the email that was sent (to enter my name in the raffle) and I was one of the 'winners'! So I went down with my $100 to HR to pick up my laptop, and of course after we exchange laptop and money, the lady tells me that the laptop is wiped clean with NO OPERATING SYSTEM. Yes, that means no OS. NO WINDOWS. NO NOTHING.

I thought, "great. you tell us in the email that these laptops are BACK TO SCHOOL ready, and then when we give you our money, you tell us there's no operating system!"

Anyway, I got over it quick, since I remembered that my step dad is a computer genius. I went to their house in San Clemente and he got Windows Vista installed. I wanted Windows 7, but he didn't have the c.d. for it. Oh well, can't complain! I got a $100 laptop (worth $200-$300 now!) that I WON! It's nothing special, but it's a laptop and it works great! I've never won anything before! And then today happened :)
