Our Brother The Marine

Private First Class Nielsen
1st RT Battalion, Delta Company
Platoon 1062

Today, the family drove down to San Diego to see Jacob's little brother, Kaleb. Today was Family Day for the graduating marines (tomorrow they graduate)! We got to see Kaleb and his platoon during their run, and then later on we got to see them in their brown/green uniforms. As soon as the marines were dismissed for Liberty, we went and looked for Kaleb. Of course, Mom got the first hug... then Dad, then Jacob. We got to spend time with our marine between 1-5pm. So while Kaleb had Liberty (free time on base), we got to go to a luncheon held for the LDS marines that are part of Delta Company. There were missionaries there serving food and senior missionary couples that serve above the marines. It was great being about to meet the senior missionaries who take care of our Mormon marines. They are wonderful people! After the luncheon, we drove to the little plaza area where they had a fountain and tables and a store. We sat around and ate ice cream and Kaleb bought a ton of junk food lol. I should have taken a picture of that!

At 5pm, Kaleb had to go back to his barracks. The family and I went to our hotel just 2 miles away from base (in downtown), and hung out there. Today was a great day! I just hope it won't be so hot tomorrow when we see Kaleb graduate!
