Memorial Weekend

Welp, Jacob and I both had a 3-day weekend! It was great! Mama came on Saturday and dropped off Camille, my cousins Liza and Joanna, and their cousin (on their mom's side), Brian. We all had fun! We spent most of the weekend swimming and basking in the sun. It was WAAAY fun! Sorry about the bad quality! Any time you see crappy quality pictures, it's because it's taken from my iPhone! And the good quality ones are obviously from my Canon!

Adobo Express!

I've heard about lots of Filipinos living in San Diego-- ever heard of Mira Mesa? Yeah, I call it Manila Mesa! There are tons of them in National City, too! Anyway, I've also heard of a lot of Filipinos living in Murrieta, but I never believed it until now! Jacob and I found this Adobo Express Bakery which is most likely a store/small restaurant/bakery!

Hampers!

So Jacob and I were in Target and saw this super cool hamper! ...Unfortunately, it was $39.99, and we weren't going to just throw our money down the drain for one hamper... because we need more than one!

Anyway, we went to Ross and found these!!! They were $11.99, $13.99, and $17.99!!! We totally jumped in on buying these! Three hampers for $44 plus tax! Not bad! Excuse the clothes on the floor and bin! We still have unpacking to do :)

Cake Decorating...

So last year Jacob and I started watching this show on TLC called Cake Boss. It's made me want to learn how to decorate cakes! I have been looking online for a cake decorating class I can take here in Murrieta and I finally found a place called The Cake Cottage. It is owned by a woman named Susan Carberry (I almost wanna say carburetor!). She sells cake decorating tools/supplies and offers classes at a very low cost! The first class starts June 9th, and is every Wednesday for 4 weeks! And it starts 6:30pm, which should give me enough time to come home from work (from rancho santa margarita). Anyway, my goal is to become good a cake decorater so I can make something like THIS for Jacob!

Pretty simple looking... but I'm gonna be safe and take the class-- better to have experience than none! This cake is not made by the Cake Boss...I found it online!

No More Squinting!!!

So Jacob and I have been going to several stores that carry tvs-- Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Sears, Target, and Fry's. We have been eyeing a particular tv at Fry's. It is a 48 inch plasma for $1495 or something. Not bad. We waited a long time before buying a tv. We have this 27 inch Phillips that we have been watching our shows on since the year we were married! Phillips is 4 years old! LoL... Anyway, Phillips sat on the floor of our family room because we didn't (and still don't) have an entertainment center/tv table thingy... And we were squinting for the longest time because from the couch, the tv was about 14 feet away! We figured if we are going to be throwing parties and having people over to chill, we are gonna need entertainment! (and not the dancing kind, either! haha)

We went to Fry's and found this super awesome tv! The price tag was showing $1499! This tv normally costs $2200 + so we couldn't believe the price!!! We asked one of the employees just to make sure! He said the reason why it was so cheap was because it was Fry's 25th anniversary, so everything was on sale! Anyway, they didn't have any in stock so we got a rain check! Well the following week, Jacob got off work early (every friday is a half day!), and headed over to Fry's, and sure enough, they had 10 in stock!!! Check out our awesome tube!

It's a 55 inch Samsung Ultra Slim LED TV!!! There are three types of TVs... plasma, LCD, and LED! We are very happy with our purchase! Thank you, Jacob for installing the tv mount and putting everything together!

I'm A Little Tea Pot

I saw this at Marshall's. I really want it. It's cute. I don't drink hot drinks or tea unless I have major cramps (which I haven't had in YEARS), but I think it would look good in our kitchen! ...But I do need to stop decorating the kitchen and focus on other rooms! Hmm...

Michael's & HomeGoods

Okay so today I went to Michael's and found some cute stuff for our kitchen! Then this evening Jacob and I went to HomeGoods and found more cool stuff! Check out what we found!

A couple of posts ago, I talked about wanting pillar candleholders from Home Goods. I actually found some similar ones from Pottery Barn but they were $59. That's a whole lotta bones if you ask me! So I went back to HomeGoods and bought my $12.99 and $9.99 white pillar candleholders! Aren't they awesome??

I saw these super cute mini lanterns online at Pottery Barn...

...But Michael's had them for only $2.99 each! ...So I bought three!

We placed the mini lanterns next to our Sacred Grove picture on one of the corners of the kitchen. Here is the action shot! They look cream in this picture... but they're white :)

I like to tear out pages from magazines and catalogs and keep them in plastic sheets in a binder for inspiration! I call it the ultimate magazine! It's way cooler to have rather than a bunch of magazines with post-its sticking out and messy pages-- very unorganized! I love my ultimate magazine. I even categorized it by interior, exterior, decorative accesories, and holiday ideas!

I bought this fake little bouquet of daisies (are they daisies?) at Michael's for $5.99 :)

So I really like green plants in white vases/pots... I don't want real plants since I know I'd be a bad Mama plant who doesn't care for her baby plants, so I bought a couple of fake ones!
This fake grass was only $4.99 from Michaels. The original pot color was dirt brown... which I didn't like at all, so I painted it Wicker White!

I saw these cool colored tumblers. I was thinking I wouldn't actually use these for drinking- I prefer clear tumblers... But I'd love to have these near a window or in a well-lit spot. They are $11.96 from Cost Plus (World Market).

But at Michael's, I bought a similar one for only $3.99! This one isn't actually a tumbler... but it doesn't matter since I'm not planning on using it as drinkware! I'm going to use it as a toothbrush holder! Pretty cute :)

Jacob has been wanting some decoration for our back patio when we build a pergola. We like the nautical-themed decor and he couldn't take his eyes of these paddles so we bought them for $24 each! We plan on hanging them in the back yard against the wall, but we won't do this until we have that awning put up

Whatchu Chalkin' Bout Willis!?

I forgot to post about this one! Jacob and I went to HomeGoods (one of our favorite stores) in Ladera Ranch after work a couple of weeks ago, and he found this framed chalk board! It's the coolest thing EVER! So we bought it. Lucky for us, Staples was right next door, so we bought some colored chalk! The frame is pretty huge, but it fits just perfectly on the wall against our kitchen. We took down the picture of us. The chalkboard looks better on the wall :)

Backsplash

Jacob and I went to Lowe's tonight. We were looking for ideas on what type of backsplash we should use for our kitchen since we don't have anything on the wall. It's hard to figure out what color and pattern and shape. Because our cabinets are white and countertops are black, it isn't easy to just go with white backsplash. These 2 below are the ones I like...

This multi-colored backsplash might be too busy looking... but I like it :)

I LOVE this one! It isn't completely white-- it has some blueish grey marble pattern on it (which would look good since our kitchen paint is blue)!

Or maybe the kitchen is fine without backsplash? Hmm... decisions, decisions
