Jacob and I went to Arizona this last weekend. We left California Saturday morning, stayed the night at my brother's house in Scottsdale, and left Sunday afternoon. We have been working with my brother Troy (my dad's son from his first marriage), in finding a good deal on a truck for Jacob. Troy is a wholesaler (or something??) and he went to an auction and found a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500! It is pretty awesome. We had my dad send money over to Troy after bidding on the truck. So we went to Arizona to pick it up! Now it is ours! I love that truck. We used to have a Ford F150, but that was manual, and I HATED learning how to drive stick in that huge thing-- (learning/driving stick in the Jeep was worse!). Anyway, we only stayed in Arizona for the weekend. It wasn't long enough. My parents and I used to go every year for Thanksgiving when I was younger. We used to stay with my dad's sister, Kathy, who lives in Mesa.
This time, Jacob and I go to go and we were able to spend some time with my brother and his mom (Carrie-- my dad's ex wife) in Scottsdale. She is so much fun! I always had a stereotype of 'ex-wives', just because of what soap operas and other tv shows depict them to be-- crazy, psycho witches... but I really like Carrie. She is awesome and definitely NOT a crazy, psycho witch! Haha... We also got to surprise visit Jacob's aunt (whose name is also Kathy) and her husband Scott and their family in Gilbert. They moved to Arizona earlier this year from Tennesse. I don't have pictures of that though. Anyway, we had a great time but I just wish we had stayed longer. Next time we go, I want to see the Grand Canyon! I've never been there before.
Still in California-- this is before we got to Blythe.
I'm loving the sky here
I LOVED seeing the windmills in Palm Springs! I never cared for them when I was younger, but they are so huge and awesome!

We found our way to my brother's house and found Jacob's truck waiting for him outside! It is a silver Dodge Ram 1500 with a 5.7 Liter Hemi engine.

Pinnacle Peak

Men's restroom
Women's!
This is inside the women's restroom. Each door stall had a horse, donkey or cow lol.
Rattlesnake! There were 3 in this huge glass aquarium thingy. That was my first time seeing a rattlesnake and hearing it rattle!
All that hanging from the ceiling are cut neckties. Here is some info
Pinnacle Peak Patio has been around since 1957. It is renowned for its delicious mesquite broiled steaks, casual western atmosphere, and its "NO NECKTIE POLICY." This "no necktie" tradition was started one night when a Phoenix executive came in for dinner. The original owner, wanting to keep the atmosphere in his restaurant casual, told the executive, "Either you take that tie off, or I'll cut it off." The executive did not take heed and was appalled when the owner pulled out a butcher knife and promptly cut off the offending cravat.
Wanting to be recognized as a victim of this absurd policy, the executive demanded that his tie be prominently displayed for all to see. The necktie was stapled to the rafters along with a business card identifying its victim. Pinnacle Peak is very serious about its "no necktie" policy and has cut over a million ties from unsuspecting customers.
Pretty awesome. I know it doesn't look at all appealing or cool from the picture, but when you're in there, it's rad!
